Ella Cuchet is a photographer whose work is focused on documentary portraiture, exploring human interaction in front of the lens. Specifically defined by body language, and expression, the work looks at the deeper relationship of human to camera, searching for the performative ways people want to be perceived.
Cuchet has a high level of interest in beyond the studio, using controlled spaces in different environments such as the outdoor landscape. A fascination with the slow nature of analogue, she uses medium format colour film to depict her subjects and produces physical prints in the darkroom.
The work has been showcased at B.A.D space, Bournemouth, Giant Gallery, Bournemouth and an upcoming exhibition at the Barge House, London.
